Cookbooks Have Arrived, ‘Heroes Honored’ debuts

Autumn is a busy time here at the ‘Perspective’

Just like the elves work feverishly in preparation for Christmas Eve, the “elves” here at the Senior Perspective have been doing the same.

The month of October was a wild one. Why? November is a big one for our newspaper. Besides printing our four editions of the November edition, we also printed out our first “Heroes Honored” special section in November. If that wasn’t enough, we are also releasing our latest cookbook.

Cookbook Have Arrived! Locations Below Updated 11-24

Each year in November, we publish a cookbook. If you are familiar with the book, and many of you are, you know that is not just any book. It is a compilation of the “best of the best” recipes from across the state and beyond.

This year’s cookbook features hundreds of recipes and lots of fun photos of people working away in the kitchen. The recipes come from people scattered across the state, and a handful of recipes and photos from across the country.

The cookbooks will be coming to a community near you in early November. Many locations will run out in the first month, so be sure to grab your books when you see them. Last year, about 20 percent of the locations still had books after Christmas. About 30 percent were out by Thanksgiving.

If you would like a book and have a hard time finding a location near you, you can always order directly from Senior Perspective by calling 320-334-3344 or sending a check Ordering info is in the paper. You can also order from our web page at www.srperspective.com. There is a delivery fee, so finding a location close by is the best way to do it if you can.

One comment that we hear each year is how nice the book works as a gift for Christmas. Some of our readers purchase 20 to 30 of them and give them to all their family members. And one reason it makes such a good gift is the price. The retail price of the book is just $4. The reason it is this affordable is because more than 250 businesses have supported this project. When you purchase a book, be sure to thank the business or organization for supporting this project. Without the support, the book would cost more like $12-$13 each.

We have put a lot of extra time and effort into this year’s book. I hope you enjoy it. The books should be at all the locations listed by Nov. 11.

Heroes Honored Earlier this year, we unveiled the “Heroes Remembered” special section which honored fallen veterans. This month, we are releasing our very first “Heroes Honored” special section, which honors all living veterans, both active and retired.

The special section has been inserted into all four editions and features several stories on veterans in Minnesota. This is the first year of the special sections, and I’m happy with how they turned out. I look forward to the potential of both these special sections moving forward. I think it is a great way to remember and honor those people who have fought for our freedoms.

A special thank you to all the businesses that have supported this project and also all the readers who have sent in written tributes and “in honor of” tributes to recognize the men and women who are serving or have served our country.

I hope you enjoy “Heroes Honored.”
