You may have already met today’s winner. I alone know who the winner is, even the winner knows not they are walking around as royalty.

You see, I am sitting every morning in my sunny front room, breakfast on a tray beside me. I am recovering from a serious illness and confined to my home for at least one month. In the windows of that lovely front room is an ever so long sidewalk with lush green grass bordering it and it has joggers, baby stroller pushers, dog walkers, and other aplenty using it.

But, I on my judging stand behind the window pane early in the morning, am looking for today’s winner. The very first person who passes my window every morning is awarded my Virtual Daily Donut Award! I send a wish that the winner will have a great day, that everything falls into place and makes them happy with life. Today’s winner is a young boy, about 3rd grade I’d guess, hunched over the handlebars of his bike pedaling furiously up the walk. His face is intent, facing forward towards his goal, the school at the end of the sidewalk. On his back an enormous red backpack of books. He resembles a colorful beetle. Hooray for the royal winner!

And me, the ever patient, patient, wait for the day I am finally able to get out in the wonderful fresh air and walk proudly past my own window to be a winner. I want that Daily Donut Crown!
